Leona Davis, seen in the school photo here (top left) lived in the house until just before her death in 1977 at which time she was moved to a care center in Leon. The three children, which included Old Carl, a colorful character who carried a pistol on a shoestring around his neck, and his two sisters, Leona and Louann, never married and lived in the house without indoor plumbing or a traditional furnace. The house was heated entirely by several wood stoves, all of which were removed by later owners.
